Hey Friends! My name is Nicole! I am nobody special, just a woman trying to get through life by completely winging it! I have a wonderful husband who supports me through my crazy dreams and has more faith in me than I do myself. I have two boys that keep me totally insane, but I love them very much. I created this blog because sometimes in the crazy journey of motherhood you kind of lose yourself and I didn’t want to be that person~~~I wanted to be have hobbies and things that I enjoyed to. I am a wife and a mother, but that is not all I do.
What you will find here:
You will find everything that you need to make your house a home! I love projects that require power tools! I love my miter saw, my jigsaw and my hammer. They are my best friends (well except that time that I hit myself with my hammer and it broke my finger). My site is filled with all of the projects that I am doing around my home. I redo floors, fix water damage in the laundry room, create home decor, interior design and holiday decorating. Once I become an awesome “have it altogether” kind of mom I would love to share some organizing tips. But for right now I am just winging this whole thing. I am just sharing my experiences and I hope that I can inspire others!
How I Got Started
I was inspired to start this blog when my husband and I moved into a beat up house that we wanted to give some love. I decided I was going to be doing projects already…why not share the projects with others! I then came across several people talking about how they create blogs and they were financially independent due to their successful blogs. Now, I don’t know if I will ever amount to the success of some of the amazing bloggers out there, but I do hope to inspire!
More About Me?
You may be thinking…well I just don’t care…show me some awesome projects! 🙂 I completley understand! Go ahead and explore my site!
For those of you curious…
I graduated with my Bachelors from BYU-Idaho in April 2013 with a degree in sociology.
I graduated with my Masters from Western Oregon University in June 2015 with a degree in Criminal Justice.
I have not done anything with either degree, because I want to be home with my children.
My husband and I met in August 2010. I was only 19 and he was 25. We didn’t really hit it off at first, because I was so young and he was just SO old! I mean…25 years old! Come on…do you need a walker? 😉 But…that certainly didn’t stop me from flirting with him and we hung out on multiple occasions.
In August 2012 Derek and I went on a beach trip with a huge group of friends. While playing tackle football (I pretended to play….but I just stood in people’s way mostly). Within about 5 minutes of the game (second play) Derek stands up and grabs his lip. All I saw was blood. I thought for a second his tooth came out! I told him to smile and a big huge hole was in his lip! I told him he had to go the hospital. I offered to take him, because he carpooled and didn’t have his car.
I took pictures of us at the hospital! We spent four hours in the hospital waiting for him to get stitches.
It was funny, because all of the nurses told us that we were a really cute couple. We both just laughed instead of correcting them (that should have been our first sign that we were going to date). 🙂
The next day Derek ask me out and we went on our first date two days later. He took me to play frisbee golf where we mostly just ate blackberries and fed ducks.
After we went to Dairy Queen and then went to a volleyball pick up game with our friends.
Shortly after starting to date I was diagnosed with complicated kidney stones (that I had received from protein shakes) and an ovarian cyst. My dear sweet Derek stayed next to me through three surgeries and more doctor visits than I can count!
This is after my second surgery (emergency surgery) and he came to visit me and we watched Transformers. I was really happy because I was on A LOT of drugs 🙂
Derek asked me to be his wife on December 1, 2012 (after 5 months of dating).
Derek and I got married on May 4, 2013
Moral of the story….I kind of like him 🙂
Derek and I found out we were pregnant only 2 months after getting married.
We welcomed our big 10 lb baby into this world on April 12, 2014! He was perfect!
Then a short 16 months later (August 21, 2015) we welcome our second boy coming in at 9lbs!
Yes…I do have very fat babies 🙂 And I love them dearly! 🙂
We love this little life that we have created! We just bought our home in October 2015 and I am having a blast (and not so blast) at redesigning and renovating our fixer-upper.
I don’t have all the answers. I am just winging life.
