When we got the keys to our house I might have been a little TOO excited. My mom was ALWAYS awesome and she let me paint my bedroom at anytime and whatever the color I wanted. She would even provide the paint. I am not sure how many times I painted my bedrooms. I painted a jungle, outer space, I painted it blue, purple and gray. The list goes on and on. Maybe my mom might have a more estimated calculation considering she paid for all of the paint each time I got bored of the colors I would choose. When I bought my house I knew that each room needed a fresh coat of paint. The walls had caked on dirt that wouldn’t come off. I really wanted to paint, but I went WAY over board with colors. I was SO excited to be able to decide what each color to paint EVERY single room and NOBODY could stop me! So, my front room was gray with a (smurf) blue accent wall, my living room was teal with a blue accent with a dark gray/blue accent wall, one of my son’s room was smurf blue and the other was green. I was SO excited to be able to have all of these FUN and exciting colors. Well, shortly after, like 4 months into living into the home, I realized that these were NOT the colors I wanted in my home. Thankfully I painted my kitchen a really pretty gray color so I didn’t have to repaint that. However, the rest NEEDED to go! So, I painted my living room gray (over the teal). Then I painted my sons room gray with a cool mountain scene (over the green), I am in the process painting my sons smurf room, I just painted my smurf accent wall (you can check out the front room post here) and FINALLY I have painted my Master Bedroom! In fact, I decided to do an entire Master Bedroom re-do!
So, I can’t find the before picture of this room 🙁 I will continue looking to see if I can find it. But the paint color was light brown and there were closet doors. I took off the closet doors, because I hate closet doors and then I painted it a dark gray/blue. So we actually liked the color. Although we liked the color is made our tiny bedroom look even SMALLER. So we needed to do something about the color.
Another problem with the paint was that our stupid bed is on wheels and we have hardwood floors, so every time I would even roll over in bed our bed wood moved and scrape across the back of the wall and would chip off the paint.
So, this room has had a lot of furniture changes. I try to move things around, add pieces and take away pieces of furniture trying to make it look bigger and give us more storage for clothes. And our room was ALWAYS messy because there was NO organziation to it.
I have added pictures of my room so you can see the evelotion of messy room, furniture changes and other things trying to figure out how to best utilize this room.
I just NEVER knew exactly what to do. I first decided to clean my room and move around clothes and furniture to a place where I knew that we could keep our room clean and stayed organized.
I was still not happy with my bedroom though. The color wasn’t right and the room didn’t feel “cozy.” So I decided to paint the room, paint the furniture and add some decorations onto the walls. You can check out the furniture changes here.
After about a week of dedication to this bedroom I finally finished and I am so much more happy.
