When we moved into this home we certainly didn’t “LOVE” this home. We knew there was a lot of things that we needed to do and we knew that we were going to be doing a lot of things with it to make it our home. Although we didn’t love the home necessarily, we absolutely LOVED the price tag, square footage and the lot size. We looked over some big flaws in the home because we couldn’t stop thinking about our big back yard and the flow of the home.
As you walk into our home there was the gross 60’s spindles attached to a random bookcase that stopped you from gathering in front of the door. I knew I wanted to get rid of that because it made the entryway really cramped. There was also some random red brick for the entry way. And then there was also carpet (ugly carpet).
And there were ugly lights that apparently were installed to show off art. Derek and I don’t have art.
The very first thing I did was paint the entire room.
We then took out the bookshelf and awkward spindles, then I tore up the carpet. Thankfully there was AMAZING wood floors underneath that I didn’t need to do anything with.
I then wanted to create a entry room table. I found a cheap old sewing table at Goodwill so I painted it yellow and then added blue knobs. We then bought a entry rug to place over the weird red brick tile.
But then, I realized I didn’t like the white door. So I decided to paint the door.
This little living room has gone through a lot of changes throughout the last little bit. We have had different rugs, different decorations/home decor, and even a different coffee table.
I decorated the mantle for Halloween
I decorated for Christmas
And I had a purple rug with a SUPER ugly coffee table for awhile.
I made those curtains and we also bought that adorable piano (I want to change the color of the piano eventually).
And finally, this is what our front room looks like now!
Hey there! 🙂 So, I decided to make one small change to the front room that made a HUGE difference. I decided to paint over the smurf blue accent wall. No more accent wall and I am so much more happy with this room!
