Another season of Brother vs Brother has sadly come to a close and my heart is so sad. I love watching that show! Thankfully, Jonathan and Drew Scott aren’t leaving the television entirely. Who doesn’t love the Scott Brothers?!
Brother vs Brother show is very simple. The brothers get a budget to buy and renovate a house. They HAVE to stay within this budget! Each week they are in charge of renovating one space in their home. Each week famous DIY/Home Decor/HGTV people come and choose who the winner of that weeks challenge is. Then finally once all of the rooms are renovated (including the outside). The brothers then try to sell their property and the brother with the biggest profit wins the entire competition. The profit goes straight towards charity (which is the greatest part about the whole thing).
This year the brothers chose to do water front properties in Galveston, Texas. Drew chose a two story home that was quite the project. He definitely took a chance with this home. Jonathon chose a safer home which was a one story home. Although Jonathan’s was safer in his choice, his home certainly wasn’t without it’s challenges and it’s problems.
Okay, let’s get down to business here and start showing some before and after shots!!
First Week: Living Room Challenge:
Jonathan Before: Jonathan Living Room space was MUCH bigger than Drew’s and so this week brought a lot more hassle. Not only did he have a living room space, but he had a dinning room to decorate as well. Although Jonathon’s home looks like a 100 year old woman lives in it, it is very well kept up!
I absolutely LOVE the blue (ish) color and also the stone near the fake fireplace. It is so beautiful. I love the floors.
These light fixtures!! My husband needs to look at those lights and go by them for me! I also love the doors behind the desk. I have NO idea what the heck they lead to (maybe a room haha), but they are SUPER pretty!
When Jonathan was talking to his designed about these black and white print, I was NOT convinced. However, once it was put into this space I fell in love!
Drew had NO idea when he bought this house that those stone rocks were going to be so hard to get out. He spent forever trying to chip away every single one of those rocks surrounding the fireplace.
I love this light fixture and the brightness that Drew brought into this space!
This week Egypt Sherrod of Flipping Virgins and David Bromstad of My Lottery Dream Home were the judges for this week and they decided to go with….DRUM ROLL>>>>
They thought that DREW was the winner!!!!
Do you think that they made the right decision?
From a designing, home decor perspective I think I would have chosen Jonathan’s! However, from a mother’s perspective I think Drew’s seemed more family friendly.
Second Week: Kitchen Challenge:
I LOVE seeing kitchen renovations! Those are usually my favorite places to see them renovated!
This renovation was just BREATHTAKING! I am obsessed with looking at how beautiful!
My eyes are instantly drawn to those pendant lights! I would LOVE those to be in my kitchen! And I am totally obsessed with those waterfall counter tops!
I love being able to see the outside deck from the kitchen. That is amazing. It would be great for outdoor parties and entertaining.
Drew had such a hard start! He cam across so many problems and it was SO ugly. He really saw some potential that I would have NOT ever seen!
You won’t even be able to recognize this kitchen after Drew gets his hands on it! I can’t believe the renovation. He had to rebuild his entire kitchen and it looks AMAZING! My jaw dropped when I saw what he could do!
I LOVE the brightness, the beams and the light blue island! This whole thing is just SO stunning!
For this week, Brett Waterman was asked to come and judge the different kitchens. And he chose…DRUM ROLL>>>
Brett Chose JONATHAN!!
As much as I loved Jonathon’s entertaining kitchen and all of the upgrades. I much rather be in Drew’s Kitchen. His kitchen was much more of my style and I loved it! I think I would have picked Drew for this one!
Third Week: Master Suite Challenge:
Oh the Murphy Bed! I am so glad he made this room much prettier in the after videos.
That big box is the bed…by the way.
Floral Wallpaper!!! Oh my goodness! If an old woman didn’t live here before I am not sure who did.
This actually wasn’t my favorite design. I do love the wood doors and the wood shelf. However, the blue walls and ceilings are a little too much. I also am not a huge fan of that art work. However, that light fixture for a beach home is to die for.
Although I am not a huge fan of the drift wood above the bed, Jonathon searched the beach for that and so that is straight from the water! That’s pretty cool.
I also didn’t like the black tile. It certainly wasn’t my favorite design.
Do you notice that there is a tree branch holding the towel. hahaha I laughed so hard when I saw that. How could you live with that?!
It’s a smaller room, but I LOVE how bright it is and the exposed beam. I also love the pendant lights on the side of the bed.
Although it may look small near the bed, you have this entire section attached to the master which is stunning! Drew did an amazing job with the fireplace and the shelves on the side.
Hello there walk in closet! I love you!
This master bathroom is to die for! I love the double vanities and that tile in the background is so unique and adorable! However, the marble floor wasn’t my favorite.
For this weeks challenge, Desert Flippers hosts Eric and Lindsay Bennett were asked to judge the competition. And they chose….DRUM ROLL >>>
DREW!!! This week’s particular challenge meant the winner got to play with cute penguins while the loser had to clean up the penguins poop.
Fourth Week: Spare Rooms and Bathroom:
This was the guest bathroom.
I couldn’t find a picture, but Jonathon did an AMAZING job with this room. If you notice on the right side of the picture is bunk beds. He built these bunk beds into the wall and then added lights near each bed so that the kid who is on the top bunk gets a light too! I love how they made this room really family friendly. This would be perfect for my three boys!
A very basic room, but I love how light and bright it is!
Easily one of my favorite rooms in the entire world! I love this bathroom and this is the type of bathroom that I would LOVE to have in my future/dream home. I am completely obsessed with the wood paneling, the mirrors, the sinks, the lights in between the mirrors, the shelves (that you can see the reflection in on the mirror), and I LOVE the baskets on the bottom of the large sink. This is what I will show my designer when we are building our own home.
Jonathon really freaked out with this bathroom, because he was so concerned about having a really fancy toilet with the sink in the wall. I am not sure how that works, but it does look kind of cool.
So in one of Drew’s rooms there was a ugly hot tub. The hot tub was broken and took up so much room. Drew figured that most likely the home was built around the tub, because there was no way that it came in through the door. SO they had to cut the hot tub in half to even get it outside of the home.
So this is bedroom #1
Bathroom: Very nice and bright bathroom. I love the blue tile in the shower. I think that is perfect for a beach home. I also like the look of the shiplap.
Bedroom #1: Remember that big hot tub? Yeah, this is what that room looks like now! Incredible huh!
Bedroom #2: I love the contrast of the red and blue it is really pretty and appealing. This bedroom is really pretty and I love it. My favorite part is actually the bed frame and the fact that the bedroom can go out onto the patio.
Bedroom #3: Very simple, but beautiful room!
Fifth Week: Outdoor Spaces:
Jonathan originally wanted to make this into a nicer bathroom. However, apparently this bathroom was illegal. No piping is allowed on floor level due to flooding.
He turned the bathroom into a mud room which is an awesome feature.
Karen E Laine and Mina Starsiak from Good Bones were the judges for this week. And they chose…DRUM ROLL >>>>
JONATHAN!!! Good Job JONATHAN!!
The loser of this competition had to climb to the top of a really hard obstacle course in JD’s onesie while the winner got to zip line!
Final Week: Exterior:
Poor Drew. He had a whole bunch of amazing things that he was going to do with this house. However, he realized he had to replace the entire siding which was a $30,000 cost.
Who Won it All??
Let’s Talk Numbers:
Purchase Price: $360,000
Renovation Costs: $157,000
List Price: $547,500
Sale Price: $587,000
Purchase Price: $275, 000
Renovation Costs: $325,000

That means that Drew beat Jonathan by over $19,000!!
