So YOU got accepted to write for the Huffington Post? Congratulations! Now What?

So You got THIS email from the Huffington Post Staff
You are going to want to click on the “Create an account” link and create your account! YAA are you getting excited yet?
The “Log In Page” will look like this.
Put in your email and your password. And your Huffington Post Home Page will look something like this.
Of course yours won’t have anything written yet 🙂 Because…well…you haven’t written anything yet! Let’s change that why don’t we?!
How about you use the article that you originally sent to Arianna as your first post!
First thing you will want to do is click on the “New Post” button on the upper left corner
You will now be brought to a blank page that looks like this!
Aren’t you excited to start writing!!!!!!!!
So first you will want to add your title into your post! Think of something that will grab readers attention. If you were scrolling through Facebook, what kind of title would make you stop and read?
This is my title that I chose. I figured people would be interested in reading more about this post. I was obviously right since you are reading right now! 🙂
So now you are going to add a “text” box. So you are going to click on the little purple line underneath the title and click the text icon that is all the way to the left.
Click on the Text Box and this should show up!
You can then start writing.
If you would like to add a picture to your text then click on the PLUS sign on the far right side of the gray toolbar. The purple line will show underneath you text and instead of clicking the text icon you will click on the image icon.
A Credit Section and a Caption Section will show up underneath your photo. Don’t forget to give credit where credit is due. And then also fill in the caption if you so choose. Both of these will show up on your picture.
Then you can start a new text box by clicking on the purple line and clicking on the text icon.
At the end of your post you HAVE to make sure that you end with your name and link your blog.
You link your blog by writing your blog name
And then highlight your blog name
Click on the link button in the tool bar…
Put in your link into the URL on the top box
And then your name should be highlighted which means it has been linked
You will then want to add a picture to your article so that Huffington Post doesn’t just add their random general picture. That doesn’t look good at all!
And then you will want to add you social media accounts. So click on the the purple line and click on the hashtag icon.
Now in the social link box you want to add your social media accounts that you want people to look at after they are done reading you article.
So if you put down one of your media platforms and THIS shows up.
This is NOT good. Delete this. This happens when I try to link my Facebook or Twitter. SO what you will want to do is do the SAME thing that you did with your Blog name with your Facebook.
So write something to intrigue people to come to your Facebook page.
Now you will want to highlight this
Then Click On the link icon on the gray toolbar
Then add your url into the link
You Facebook page should be hyperlinked to whatever you highlighted! And it will look like THIS
You should add your Pinterest which should look like this
Next you will want to add tags to your article. These tags will help people find your article so it is VERY important to put tags into your article that you want people to search. The Tags section is in the top right of the screen
You will want to think about what you article is about and put the proper tags. Put a comma between each tag so that a new tag can insert.
And finally make sure that you link some of your related posts or articles to the bottom so that people have more ways to find awesome material from you!
Finally, you need to go back and proof read your work. Be PROUD of what you are about to publish, because it has the possibility of going VIRAL!
It is NOW time for you to publish your work! Aren’t you excited?!
Click on the PUBLISH button on the top right.
Once you click on this button then a confirmation should appear
After you click the submit button then it will give you the option of posting elsewhere.
I like doing this manually so I could easily pick which picture I want associate with my link.
You will then be brought back to here. Now if you realize that you messed up on something just quickly click on edit.
You will be brought back to your main page and then you can fix you mistake and then click on republish!
And you are done! You have officially written your first article for the Huffington post!! Congratulations!!!!
