This is a very simple, easy and cheap project (which is my favorite). I have two children under 2 years old, so any project that is adorable yet time and cost effective is where I like to stay close to. I wish I could do extravagant projects, but mommy comes before anything else.
So I found this old piece of wood in my backyard. If you have been following my blog you will know that the people who had our home before left their home a mess when we moved in! We were then proud new owners of a ton of junk that I decided to turn into beautiful pieces!
So here is the ugly piece of wood. Doesn’t it just scream “I want to be turned into a piece of art work!”
I also found a couple handfuls of rocks that I cleaned up and brought inside.
My toddler was really disappointed when I started creating something with them. He was certain they were his new toy. Hate to break it to you kid.
Now plug in that glue gun so that it can start heating up! You will first want to make your heart with the rocks. Don’t do any gluing or anything. You don’t want to start gluing and then decide you aren’t happy with the shape of your heart. Too late!
I am very happy with my heart. This is where you can use your best judgment. You can make several little hearts, one big one, a skinny one a fat one…or you could even get crazy and spray paint the rocks first! I decided I liked the natural feel without painting the rocks and I choose one big heart.
I glued each rock with the hot glue gun. And then I felt like it was a little blank, so I whipped out my stencils. I decided to write LOVE YOU with the stencils. The LOVE I wrote in purple and the YOU I wrote in blue (those were our wedding colors).
And that’s it my friends! 🙂 I screwed it up on the wall in my living room. It was the first thing up on the wall so far and so I am pretty excited to begin decorating the wall with some amazing pieces!
