Organizing Simply With the Dollar Store
We all have those places in the house…you know where they are! The junk drawers, the junk corner, or even the junk closet. 🙂 I decided that I was going to make a trip to the dollar store and organize the biggest messes in my home! My house has a lot more work that needs to be done before it is perfectly the way I want it, but baby steps are the key! I have two very small children so this isn’t going to be an over night process. Organizing doesn’t have to be the prettiest or greatest ever! It just has to be functional am I right? There are tons more beautiful ways to organize, but THIS works for my family!
So I went to the dollar tree and spent $36 on all of these items.
I first put those big baskets you see in the back into each of the rooms as simple laundry baskets, so you will not see those in any other pictures. I also used a couple of things to put letters and pens in (not very exciting so I won’t be showing those either). Also there are a couple of things that I used to put gross stuff in (like kitty litter ect) I will be showing the stuff that will be beneficial to you! 🙂
This was the first thing that I wanted to change when I was thinking about this project! We don’t have anything to keep all of the knives and random kitchen supplies organized.
Adding a couple simple baskets was the perfect solution to our problem
This was one of my drawers in my bathroom. Why is there a random phone charger and half of a doorknob child lock? I have NO idea! There is also a frame and a Sharpi. I am not sure how these got in here, but I feel like it is time for them to find a new home.
Putting a simple basket with Q-tips makes the drawer look so much cleaner and neater. It is also a lot easier to grab a Q-tip quickly which I really like. I also realized how much more room is in this drawer that I am not using!
This was by far the most annoying part in our home! That yellow wire went all the way to the window sill where our wireless router sat. Then our white modem was stranngled by other wires. Oh my gosh what a nightmare. We also had comic books and a box of random stuff.
I put the backpack into the garage (because it was full of nonsense). I went through the Pampers box full of stuff and then there was a lot less clutter already. I decided to then puncture holes in the back of the bookshelf in order to string the wires through the back. I then put all of the wires in the little red basket. It looks so much cleaner and I am so happy with it! I took a little magazine bin (that I bought from the dollar store) and put all of my husband’s comic books in it. They are now all in one spot and they are continuously falling off of the shelf or falling over.
This was my disaster of a drawer. I still hadn’t taken off the horrible drawer liner that was from the previous owners and there were just tons of stuff thrown into this bathroom drawer.
I decided to turn this drawer into a place where we would put our floss and the place to put our first aid kits. I threw the floss into a little container so that it would be easier to grab and it looks so much cleaner. I am so much happier with this drawer.
Near our sink is always getting messy, because we have nowhere to put anything! And it’s not like we can put them in our filthy drawers.
I decided to add baskets to the top for my husband’s shaving stuff and then another for our toothbrushes and toothpaste.
I then put baskets into the drawer near the sink and placed everything in there! 🙂 I am so happy with it and everything is so easy to find AND it is easy to keep clean, but the organization isn’t too complicating! Sometimes when you make organizing too complicated then you are not going to keep it up.
So this drawer…do I need to say anything about this drawer…
I put one basket for my hairbrush and my husbands hair comb. I then put another one for our deodorants. It looks so much nicer and way more organized.
This drawer was my favorite, because well…look how random! Yes, that is a baby bath toy 🙂 And yes, that is painters tape! 🙂
I decided to use this drawer for my face lotions as well as my hair ties. One little container for each! Am I the only one who loses hair ties and bobby pins like crazy?! Hopefully this will allow me to keep more of them safe!
This was one of my biggest problems. This is my night stand! No…I am not a complete pig, but it is hard to maintain this part of my home. I have my nursing pads, water, chargers, tablet, diapers and wipes for when the baby needs to be changed. Everything on this night stand (besides the shirts) NEEDS to be there!
So I decided to get one blue pin for my nursing pads, one blue bin for the diaper changing station and then the red basket for all of the my electronics and chargers! 🙂 I am so much happier about this and I feel like I am much more organized! I also feel like less of a pig which is a plus! 🙂
In the bottom of my closet I had tons of Avon stuff in a big box! It was ugly and not very organized! Like…look how ghetto that looks!
I decided to get two really cute bright pink bins and they even make my stuff look so much cuter!
I am REALLY mad, because I can’t find the “before” picture to this, but you can kind of assume what it looked like before based on what other things looked like! 🙂 I bought this stackable paper organizer! You buy each one separately and they all stack on each other! They even have multiple colors 🙂
The act of organizing my home is NEVER ending and I promise that I will make a super awesome trip to the dollar store again to organize other aspects of my life:) I hope you were able to get some good ideas for your home!
